B-Constellation Swift Silver grounds us into the profound soil of Life. And that is what we need more than ever especially now.

Anna Kline’s Voice rises like a force of nature beating like a most sensitive and giving heart — empowering the depth of her lyrics and the beauty of John Looney’s guitars and of his genius. Anyway—Two geniuses together can’t but take your Soul to the stars.

This is a beautiful reflection of America and of its musical core.

Standing I’m standing With a mighty heavy load Oh, standing Mama standing At what you might call a crossroads No one to carry my burden ‘cept Me alone I’m calling out on this lonesome road Father, son, and holy ghost I follow no man’s path But my own I follow no man’s path But my own The sky above She is my mother The road ahead My sister and my brother I follow no man’s path But my own Waiting I’m waiting For a sign from up above Oh, waiting Mama waiting With a hunger And a thirst No one to carry my burden ‘cept Me alone Down on my knees, I beg God, please, For the strength to rise on up I follow no man’s path But my own I follow no man’s path But my own The sky above She is my mother The road ahead My sister and my brother I follow no man’s path But my own

Loving you, it wasn’t the same Something was wrong But that something I could not name I prayed to God my heart it would change The choices you made, you cannot undo Doesn’t work that way I ain’t got much time for regret I was pacing the floor, retracing my every step You’re not a gambler at heart, you forget The look in your eyes, the secrets and lies Better left unsaid Oh, these memories They’re hammering my head Or is it the liquor I shouldn’t have had A house up in flames Pointing fingers and naming names Tell me, how is it cheating when you’ve done the leaving We’ve given up on us Pushed me away every time The gap grows wide A woman can’t, a woman can’t live that way Yours is a losing game You ain’t no, you ain’t no do right man A house up in flames Pointin’ fingers and namin’ names Tell me how is it cheatin’ when you’ve done the leavin’ We’ve given up on us Tell me how is it cheatin’ when you’d done the leavin’ We’ve given up on us

Looking Back 07:06
Looking back I’ve made my mistakes Caused a little pain and some Heartbreak Now I see Words and apologies Don’t mean much Of anything Movin’ on Is all I can do Said all my goodbyes to the Crimes of youth Sleepin’ dogs lie But they still bite Chasin’ me down all Hours of the night I’ve got no use No use for lying Whatever I’ve done There’s no sense in hiding Cuz I know my heart It’s all that I’ve got I didn’t mean no harm Here we are in Separate rooms Not another word I can Say to you I want you to know It just goes to show How the heart can Play you for a fool I’ve got no use No use for lying Whatever I’ve done There’s no sense in hiding Cuz I know my heart It’s all that I’ve got I didn’t mean no harm

Time it undresses The fiction & wreckage Of all to which we lay claim More than a thief, well, I'd like to think Time's brought me more gifts than grief Infinite numbers Of lovers and others Get caught in our web of desire Want and need are two different things Thank God for unanswered prayers We promenade Through this great expanse Spun round & round by some unseen hand For all that I know, a presence unknown Went to all this trouble for us Do - Si - Do Round the room of crossed up hearts I'd like to believe You're the reason I'm seeing stars Reason enough My feet can't feel the floor Reason enough Tonight, forever yours Pushing us under The current grew stronger Downriver we washed ashore Forged together with fire and hammer Forever to change our course When the dust settles It does beg the question Of how a love it will grow There’ve been plenty of reasons for lovin’, for leavin’ You always were ever my home We promenade Through this great expanse Fortune’s the mistress of pure happenstance Saddled and broke by all that I know I find solace with one of my kind Do - Si - Do Round the room of crossed up hearts I'd like to believe You're the reason I'm seeing stars Reason enough My feet can't feel the floor Reason enough Tonight, forever yours

Fashioned out of the mud From the Coldwater bottoms Grew up tall on the bones of my grandfathers Who rest beneath the ground That Panola County clay The Mississippi River long time ago Snaked its westward way The banks can barely hold The sign of the struggle Who wants to walk the Straight and narrow? Seek not to be reborn Behold I am the pearl Bent, bowed, undertow, journey on Find your way back home It's been a long road It's been a long road I said, Come on I said, Come on If their answers don't serve you Come on home to yourself I said, Come on I said, Come on If their answers don't serve you Come on home to yourself Heavy our feet tread On dirt and delusion Deep is the well we Choose to believe in Come rollin' thunder Come hell or high water Bear witness to the pain And let the levee break Time to cross on over It's been a long road It's been a long road I said, Come on I said, Come on If their answers don't serve you Come on home to yourself I said, Come on I said, Come on If their answers don't serve you Come on home to yourself

I left my old home to ramble this country My mother and dad said son don't go wrong Remember that God will always watch o'er you And we will be waiting for you here at home Son don't go astray was what they both told me Remember that love for God can be found But now they're both gone this letter just told me For years they've been dead, the fields have turned brown For many long years this world I have rambled No thoughts of the day when I would return Now as I go home and find no one waiting The price I have paid to live and to learn Son don't go astray was what they both told me Remember that love for God can be found But now they're both gone this letter just told me For years they've been dead, the fields have turned brown Written by Carter Stanley

Blackbird said The sunshine’s golden Couldn’t get no better Sho nuff was A long cold winter Just when we Couldn’t get no thinner That kinda cold Makes it hard to remember spring This world is coming alive To some strange times We gotta bend and sway together We find ourselves Ground to heaven Every soul here thrown together But your feet and restless feathers Land right where both your eyes travel A nest little bird Can’t be built on silt or sand This world is coming alive To some strange times We gotta bend and sway together How far can you go When you’re just Circling ‘round the same home? The earth spins humming its song The higher you get the more that you see The higher you get the more that you see The higher you get the more that you see Night birds call ‘Crost the holler Might as well let my mind follow Stars they burn Bright as nickels And we fly on past each other When morning comes Earth and sky bathed in new light This world is coming alive To some strange times We got to bend and sway together How far can you go When you’re just Circling ‘round the same home? The earth spins humming its song The higher you get the more that you see The higher you get the more that you see The higher you get the more that you see

Pink skies, sleepy eyes The sun it rises Making due with all my Bad decisions One of millions just Out there living Not happy ‘less I’m in the Dirt and diggin’. No regrets, hedging bets I feel so restless I called you up but you’re Out of guesses If you want I’ll buy you a ticket We can wonder just What our place is And they carved rock into road Told the river how to flow We all get our turn To be young and grow old We all get our turn to grow old Asphalt or gravel No, it don’t matter How you got here, the road you traveled Ask yourself who Is your master? Is this the life you’ve been Chasing after? Tomorrow holds no guarantees They say history tends to repeat Signs are suggestions And rules are for questioning Just crossed the line into Tennessee And they carved rock into road Told the river how to flow We all get our turn To be young and grow old We all get our turn to grow old

I’ve said my goodbyes Made my farewells Had the last word For what it’s worth I cast my net wide To see what could be Another year gone, and a new one just beyond And it ain’t wrecked yet You wake to the truth Cold as the rain Pounding its point On the Mountain Parkway When sufferin’ and good And hell to pay all comes due Another change is come and who knows what’s beyond And it ain’t wrecked yet The mistakes that I made | The mistakes that we make And the paths that I strayed | The paths that we stray Just trying to find a better part of myself | ourselves Cuz I’ll wreck it again | Cuz we’ll wreck it again Til the final amen Driving ahead The river’s inclined To give no more thought To things left behind Casting aside Whatever she wants Another burden gone and miles there just beyond And it ain’t wrecked yet The mistakes that we make The paths that we stray Just trying to find a better part of ourselves Cuz we’ll wreck it again Til the final amen And it ain't wrecked yet

about

“This is a keeper. Out of seemingly nowhere, we have one of the strongest and most memorable roots albums of the year to date.” --Glide Magazine, Jim Hynes

From the moment the listener presses play to the last track fade, Swift Silver's debut self-titled album celebrates the tenets of Southern sound. This collection of songs marks a meaningful milestone for songwriters Anna Kline and John Looney: It is a 180° (re)turn to their musical roots: the redemptive strains of Southern gospel, the drawling tremolo of rhythm and blues, and the twang of the rural soul. These songs speak to love and love lost, pulsate with discovery, and melodically confess the hunger to right a few wrongs. These songs were cultivated in the dim lights of listening rooms and local jams, regional festivals and side street bars, alone in the woodshed and crafted as an ensemble. Get swept away by Swift Silver's big river of sound.

about

Swift Silver Lexington, Kentucky

Southern songwriters Anna Kline and John Looney are Swift Silver. Their collaboration spans ten years of exploring the great expanse of the American songbook—touring, conspiring, songwriting—fused together by the Mississippi heat, molded in the mountain air of Western North Carolina, and flung free in the hills of Kentucky bluegrass. ... more
